Tehran is prepared to reinitiate nuclear negotiations with Washington on condition that it is treated with "respect" and "honor", Iran's top diplomat has announced.

Abbas Araghchi stated only diplomacy produced results, and revealed fresh requests had originated from go-betweens to reopen talks with the American leadership. He claimed Iran did not have unreported enrichment locations, and Iran could not yet authorize the UN nuclear inspectorate to access attacked atomic facilities for protective measures.

Navigating a Challenging Route

The foreign minister is treading a difficult course since Iran aims to avoid be seen to be proceeding from a stance of vulnerability, and he consistently maintained that Iran had arisen more powerful defensively and emotionally from the Israeli-US attack on its nuclear sites in June.

He was speaking at a defense forum in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "an absolute privilege to enrich uranium within its borders that it will always maintain" – the key factor of the deadlock in the earlier negotiations.

Previous Talks Abruptly Terminated

The earlier sessions of talks between the United States and Iran were ended suddenly and bitter end on 12 June when Israel, with American backing, struck Iran's enrichment centers in a fortnight-long engagement that concluded with the American leader asserting the locations had been eliminated. Following this, EU nations used their authority to reinstate UN-wide sanctions, but Iran maintains they have not had a substantial consequence.

Iranian officials said they felt they had attained a "ideal resolution" to the nuclear fuel concern in previous talks, when it was agreed an domestic cooperative with US participation could refine atomic fuel. Each party would have been able to claim victory since domestic enrichment would have remained and the US could be confident that Iran's nuclear programme was exclusively peaceful.

It had not been settled in the talks that American atomic experts could operate inside Iran, but that was a reasonable assumption of the partnership suggestion. In his speech to the gathering, intended to paint the US as a dominant force that exploits the concept of international law, Araghchi stated the two-week conflict showed the dispute could not be resolved by military means. He said the strikes commenced with a American requirement for an unconditional Iranian surrender and culminated with an absolute demand for a ceasefire.

Iran is convinced the initial Israeli attacks were mounted with full US knowledge and coordination, making confidence difficult to rebuild.

Dialogue Remains the Primary Answer

The foreign minister stated: "Tehran was not the one that had fled dialogue; it was America and the European states that had consistently tried to dictate their demands during the negotiations. Negotiations can still be alive and continues the final resolution to resolve conflicts, but its requirements, guidelines and fundamentals must be adhered to."

"In case they speak to the Iranian people with the approach of dignity and honor, they will get a response in the equivalent language."

Recovery and Recovery
