This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.
While perhaps not at the same level as pardoning Thanksgiving turkeys, but the county's top official had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a current administration.
“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a prosperous future away from worry.”
This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The animal, donated by a local firefighter, was given its name from the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “6-7” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often seemingly at random. The trend became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently named “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.
A New Life
Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.
“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to kick off the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.
“It captures the character of Miami: happy, diverse, and based in heritage that unite the community. Each year, we are delighted to mark tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”
Participants enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and strong coffee as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
