Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Critics 'Not True Real Fans'

Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Spurs and Increase Pressure on Frank

Spurs supporters who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were told afterwards "they can't be real Tottenham fans" by boss Frank.

Tottenham let in two goals in the opening six minutes to fall 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th top-flight at home defeat of 2025.

But the main talking point was Fulham's second goal when Vicario gave away the ball far beyond his area.

He ventured out to handle a high pass and carried the ball near the touchline.

However, rather than booting it out of play, the Italy international spun and attempted to clear, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was collected by King.

King laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the touchline measured at 36.6 metres.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to Vicario once more, some Tottenham supporters jeered him.

The team were booed off at the interval, with the club 2-0 behind, and once more at the final whistle.

A particular of those jeering episodes truly angered Frank.

"It came to my attention some of our fans apparently jeered the situation and booed after, which, in my view is totally unjustifiable," the Dane stated about the fans' response to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals cannot be real Tottenham fans that act that way. Fair enough jeering following the match, fine, but when we are in play, we are backing each other, we are behind each other moving ahead."

Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute advantage prior to Wilson's strike – with Kudus netting for Tottenham in an improved second period performance.

Ex- top-flight goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the next goal was "totally avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the role the keeper is performing. He's a excellent squad member, he is a real leader in the locker room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"The keeper was heavily involved in what turned out to be the decisive goal."

'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario After the Game

Italy international the keeper is in his third season with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old said after the game that he had to take the feedback.

"The second goal was a mistake of mine, I take responsibility for that," he commented.

"My aim was to kick the ball far and I just struck the ball in a bad way. It was an more difficult challenge to overcome."

He stated being booed "comes with football".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he continued. "We can't be influenced by the situation in the stands. The fans have the right to do what they think.

"It is on us to stay increasingly composed, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is lacking in calmness and poise to overturn outcomes. This match is a bad loss and it is tough to take."

'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Goal Line'

In spite of the keeper's mistake, it was not an easy goal for Harry Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the second most distant Premier League goal of the campaign – after Tyler Adams' forty-three point three yard strike for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly also occurred on the same day.

Wilson stated he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an empty net to target.

10 moments passed between the keeper exiting of his box and the midfielder striking – which was five moments after the kick.

"I felt like the keeper was out of the box for ages," Wilson remarked.

"I was surprised none of the back four went back to the line. When not one of them defended the goal, my interest lit up a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie fell too, which allowed me a bit of extra opportunity. After that it was solely about trying to achieve the right contact and place it towards goal. I had a good feeling, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was heading in."

'During in a Bad Spell, Everything Appears to Work Against You'

Booing While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unjustifiable - Frank

While Vicario's mistake led coverage, this was an overall bad day for Tottenham to extend their home struggles.

This was their 10th at home defeat of 2025 in the league, a shared club statistic along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

They still have home fixtures against the manager's old side the Bees and champions the Reds to play prior to the end of the season.

Only one of those wins have occurred since Frank replaced his predecessor in the off-season.

"When you're behind 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," said Frank.

"When you're in a poor run, all aspects seems to work against you as well – the opening was a redirected shot, the second is a mistake from the keeper.

"This result leaves us in a place where we have lost an additional game. Every game has a single story, this game we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We just need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and with luck an aspect we can use to learn."

Spurs have lost four consecutive at home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.

And they are recording 9.5 shots and 3.2 shots on target per game in the division – their poorest averages on record in a one campaign (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Former Fulham midfield player Murphy stated that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He must take the criticism," the pundit said. "He's accepted a high profile role at a major football club with enormous anticipation. There is pressure and duty that comes with that.

"Their showings at home have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
