President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member killed last week to attend the executive mansion.

He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Tragic Shooting

US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Gatherings across the state have taken place in their memory.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump told the press. “And likewise with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Attendees gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid public safety in the capital.

Remembering Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that instructors wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” the principal, the head of her former high school, told the press. “She was caring, compassionate and always eager to assist people.”

Funeral plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Measures and Government Adjustments

Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The incident prompted the administration to pause refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing visas to owners of Afghan passports.

Status of the Airman

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader the governor stated on television.

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with excellence, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey told the audience at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
